Anglesey Freeport has welcomed the UK and Welsh Governments’ announcement of Site Accelerator Grants, with funding confirmed to support projects in the Freeport.
The UK and Welsh Governments announced £162,000 of funding for Anglesey Freeport for:
The Site Accelerator Grants provide short-term, targeted funding to sites within Industrial Strategy Zones, including Anglesey Freeport, helping to address technical and practical barriers that delay development. The grants intend to accelerate progress and provide local partners with the tools needed to bring high-potential sites into delivery more quickly.
Reducing barriers to investment on sites within the Freeport is a priority as we transition into our operational phase.
Anglesey County Council Leader and Economic Development portfolio holder, Councilor Gary Pritchard, welcomed the funding to carry out these key assessments.
Cllr Pritchard said: “I would like to thank our Economic Development team for putting together these successful funding applications. The money received from the UK Government will now allow us to carry out the highway and grid capacity assessments over the coming weeks. This is another important step forward in the journey of the Anglesey Freeport.”
